Scarification tattoo and peeling
During the first week after getting a tattoo, it is essential to protect the wound with cling film to prevent scabbing.
Each morning, clean the area with water, gently removing any early scabs. Once thoroughly clean, apply shaving foam followed by a thin layer of petroleum jelly, then cover again with cling film.
In the evening, proceed in the same way, but replace the shaving foam with lemon juice or vinegar to disinfect. After this first week, cling film and shaving foam are no longer necessary. Simply continue to use petroleum jelly until the wound is completely healed. This method helps to slow down the healing process for a better tattoo result.
Keep a compress on for at least 2 hours after the treatment. Once removed, wash your hands thoroughly, then rinse the tattoo under hot water for 2 to 3 minutes. Gently pat dry with a clean towel and allow the skin to breathe overnight.
From the following day onwards, apply a healing moisturising cream, such as EasyTattoo, Bepanthene Plus or Aloe Vera, approximately 3 to 4 times per day. Apply a THIN layer, ensuring it is well absorbed to guarantee optimal hygiene and promote effective healing. The use of a suitable tattoo disinfectant remains essential to keep the area clean and prevent infections.
TATTOO: HYGIENE ADVICE
Recommendations from your tattoo artist: do not hesitate to contact them if you have the slightest doubt or need further advice.
Advice for the 10 to 15 days following your tattoo:
– Avoid swimming pools, lakes, and prolonged baths to minimise the risk of infection or irritation.
Protect your skin from prolonged sun exposure, as UV rays can alter pigments and slow down skin healing.
– Do not scratch the tattooed area and do not remove any scabs to avoid unnecessary scarring or lesions.
Check-up visit:
It is recommended to return to your tattoo artist about a month later to evaluate the final result and check if any touch-ups are necessary. Touch-ups are offered during the first three months, provided that aftercare has been properly followed.
Note: Healing times vary depending on the quality of your epidermis and the care provided. Use a suitable ointment (for example, antiseptic-based) to moisturise and protect the tattooed area. Good hygiene and appropriate care reduce the risk of skin infections and promote optimal healing.
These recommendations are essential for preserving the beauty and durability of your tattoo while minimising complications.
Long-term monitoring and maintenance
A follow-up visit to your tattoo artist is recommended about one month after getting the tattoo. This allows for an assessment of the final result and, if necessary, free touch-ups within three months of the tattoo, provided that aftercare instructions have been correctly followed.
Healing times can vary depending on the quality of your skin and the attention paid to aftercare. Tattoo artists generally recommend antiseptic ointments to moisturise the tattooed area and prevent infections. It is also crucial to monitor for any allergic reactions to tattoo inks or products used during aftercare.
Take care of it
Looking after your tattoo involves more than just skincare. It is a rigorous process that begins the moment you arrive at the tattoo studio and continues at home. Adhering to hygiene standards, regular hand washing, using appropriate products, and following recommendations are essential for protecting the tattooed area and ensuring a lasting aesthetic result.
By following this advice and remaining attentive to the condition of your tattoo, you maximise your chances of uncomplicated healing, while preserving the art you wear on your skin. If you have any doubts or questions, never hesitate to consult your tattoo artist, who remains your best resource for personalised guidance.
